Go Driving With Transition Lenses

Going for an early morning drive is a great way to start the day. There’s less traffic and you’ll get to see the sun rising. It’s all good until you get hit with the glare. That’s the time when you need to break out the eyeglasses with transition lenses.

Transition Lenses, What are They?

Transition lenses, or photochromic lenses, to keep things simple, are lenses that adjust to changes in light to optimize your eyesight. If it’s exposed to UV rays, the lenses trigger a chemical reaction to darken the lenses, and it lightens up back to a clear state when you’re back indoors or during the night.

The lenses only react to short wavelengths so even if you look at electrical lighting, it won’t change at all.

To give you a clear idea on how transition lenses work and how it also differs from polarized lenses, watch this video below:

Now back to driving, with ordinary prescription eyeglasses, you’re bound to face the sun’s glare in the morning and afternoon. It’s dangerous to drive when facing the sun and it’s rather inconvenient to take out your polarized sunglasses just to swap it out because of a pesky glare in your way. Transition lenses eyeglasses remove the need for swapping glasses during a drive which adds another layer of safety.

Also, you might’ve seen in the video above that transition lenses shouldn’t be used while in a car because of the car’s UV blocking windshield preventing the lenses from darkening. Ordinary transition lenses might not work so well inside a car, but this problem is negated by car-friendly transition lenses.
